United unveil additional legends

Former Boston United players Steve Chambers and Doug Newton will return to the Staffsmart Stadium later this season, after both players agreed to make ‘United Legend’ appearances in the New Year.

Midfield player Chambers played a key role for the Pilgrims in the 1990s, making 196 appearances for the club between 1992 and 1997, and will appear against Matlock Town on February 28.

Meanwhile, winger England semi-pro winger Newton scored 11 goals in 34 appearances for the Pilgrims between 1986 and 1988 and will make his return against Leigh Genesis on April 4.

Please give both players a warm welcome when they return to Boston.

The ‘United Legend’ on Wednesday against Hednesford Town is former captain Paul Ellender and he will be followed by former striker Jim Lumby on October 18 against Kidsgrove Athletic.
