Jones set for FA Cup return

Jones set for FA Cup return

Craig Singleton21 Sep 2012 - 09:46

Boston United striker Mark Jones is expected to make his return from injury for Saturday’s FA Cup with Budweiser clash against Kettering Town.

The second qualifying round encounter takes place at The Jakemans Stadium (kick-off 3.00pm) with £4,500 prize money up-for-grabs for the winning team.

Confidence will be high in the United camp following last weekend’s memorable victory over Chester FC, but manager Jason Lee will be keen to guard against complacency as United meet one of his former sides.

The return of Jones following an ankle injury will further strengthen a United attack that has averaged two goals per game so far in Blue Square Bet North.

Matt Wilson (knee) continues to miss out though and he will play no part against the Poppies.

United are gunning for a first victory FA Cup victory since 2009 when they defeated Loughborough Dynamo 4-2 at The Jakemans Stadium. The Pilgrims have since suffered defeats to Lowestoft Town, Worcester City and Kidsgrove Athletic (after a replay).

Kettering were 3-0 replay victors over Wisbech Town in the first qualifying round, following an initial 0-0 draw. They have not yet won in eight Evo-Stik Southern Premier matches this season though — suffering 2-1 defeats to St Albans City and Cambridge City during the last seven days.

Saturday’s match referee is Adrian Sannerude and those not in attendance can follow the action on United Live.

As Blue Square Bet do not offer prices on Kettering Town matches, no match odds are available for this fixture.
