Keeper Bastock reaches United landmark

Craig Singleton15 Oct 2011 - 21:32

Goalkeeper Paul Bastock has reached the 650-match milestone in his long and illustrious Boston United career.

The 41-year-old stopper made his landmark appearance in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Histon at the Glass World Stadium.

Bastock, who moved to Boston in the summer of 1992, made 625 appearances during his first spell with the Pilgrims — and has made a further 25 appearances since arriving back at The Jakemans Stadium in March 2011.

The Leamington Spa-born keeper is now 78 appearances ahead of Billy Howells, who made 572 outings for the Pilgrims between 1965 and 1976.

Stay tuned to bufc.co.uk for video reaction from the veteran stopper — plus video interviews with Jason Lee and Craig Armstrong paying tribute to the long-serving keeper.
