Lee praise for 'developing' squad

Rob Singleton2 Aug 2012 - 11:21

Manager Jason Lee was full of praise for his still-developing Boston United squad in the wake of the 2-2 friendly home draw against a Hull City XI.

He said: “It was a good exercise, admittedly against a young side — but one that gave us an excellent test.

“I thought we did okay in the first half but I was disappointed in the way we conceded the two goals. But overall I was pleased with a lot of things. People like Ben Milnes and James Reed worked really hard and showed a lot of quality on the ball.

“Hull probably had the upper hand early on, but I felt that once we got to grips with them we moved the ball around well and created plenty of chances. We certainly did enough to deserve our draw, even if our second goal was a bit cheeky.

“But that sort of quick free-kick has gone against us in the past and shows how important it is to stay switched on at all times. It’s nice when you catch other sides out, but costly if you concede in that manner. That’s why Dan Haystead and all our players have to be aware of these dangers. Goals like that against you in the league cost points.”
