Boston United have completed the signing of former Sunderland utility player Liam Marrs.

The 21-year-old, who enjoyed a 13-game loan spell with the Pilgrims last season, has joined Dennis Greene’s squad on a permanent basis.

Capable of playing in defence or midfield, the versatile Marrs left the Stadium of Light earlier in the year at the conclusion of his professional contract with the Wearside club.

Subject to the relevant paperwork being ratified, Marrs will be eligible for Saturday’s Vanarama Conference North clash against Stalybridge Celtic at The Jakemans Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Pilgrims have parted company with defender Duran Reynolds and striker Chris Dickinson by mutual consent.

Reynolds has cancelled his contract to pursue regular first team football elsewhere, having made only two appearances in the Pilgrims’ opening five matches and having fallen behind Scott Garner, Carl Piergianni and Stefan Galinski in the United defensive pecking order.

Dickinson netted the winner on his debut against Barrow on the opening day of the season but has been freed to allow him to find a club nearer his northeast base.

Reynolds and Dickinson both move on with the best wishes of everybody at Boston United.
