The Magpies have led the table for much of the season following a blistering start to the campaign, but now find themselves in second place behind Bradford Park Avenue after exiting both the Emirates FA Cup and Buildbase FA Trophy over recent days.
The Pilgrims have won the last three league meetings between the sides, including a 1-0 success at Victory Park last season.
United will definitely be without the services of defender Ben Middleton, who is sidelined with a foot injury.
Jay Rollins could again feature for the Pilgrims, having made his comeback from an eight-month injury lay-off at Ashton United last weekend. His last league outing, ironically, arrived at Chorley in March.
The Magpies have won five and drawn one of their seven home league matches to date this season.
Saturday's match referee is Elliott Swallow, who officiated the Pilgrims' 3-0 win over FC United of Manchester in August.
