Milnes set for weekend comeback

Milnes set for weekend comeback

Craig Singleton20 Jan 2012 - 10:00

Boston United and Nuneaton Town meet at The Jakemans Stadium on Saturday with both clubs chasing their first victories of 2012.

Boston and Nuneaton have both taken just two points from a possible nine inside the opening three weeks of the New Year — with Saturday’s encounter providing one of the teams on show the opportunity to break their winless run.

United will be particularly hoping to bounce back from disappointing home showings against Blyth Spartans and Bishop’s Stortford which yielded a return of only one point.

Spencer Weir-Daley is poised to make his first appearance at The Jakemans Stadium since May 2011 following his goalscoring return at Dartford last week.

The Pilgrims are likely to welcome back midfielder Ben Milnes (ankle) and winger Ryan Semple (knee), while newcomer Conor Marshall is included in the United squad for the first time.

Tyrone Kirk (hamstring) and Liam Parker (ankle) are both sidelined, while Mickey Stones has taken an indefinite break from football as he plots a comeback from a long-standing knee injury.

The corresponding fixture last season ended 2-1 in Town’s favour, while Nuneaton were 2-0 victors in the reverse fixture earlier this campaign.
