Boston United and Guiseley renew rivalries at The Jakemans Stadium on Saturday as the Vanarama Conference North play-off race intensifies.

The Lions have become regular opponents of United over recent seasons and the Pilgrims will be eager to get the better of a side who have held the upper hand against them in recent times.

Guiseley pipped United to the UniBond Premier League title in 2010, knocked them out of the play-offs on penalties in 2011 and sneaked past the Pilgrims to claim the final play-off spot last season.

United will be keen for three points on Saturday to maintain their play-off quest this time around and they should be boosted by the return of influential centre-half Carl Piergianni from illness.

Full-back Rene Steer serves the second of a three-match suspension but Alfreton Town loanee Massiah McDonald could make his Pilgrims’ debut after switching from the Impact Arena earlier in the week.

Sunderland defender Tom McNamee could be in line for his home debut in United colours following his outright debut at Harrogate Town last weekend.

Guiseley, managed by Mark Bower, are currently fourth in the standings and have not played since January 10 when they were beaten 1-0 at Tamworth. They have suffered only two away defeats all season.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended 3-0 to the Pilgrims, with Marc Newsham on target twice.

Saturday’s match referee is Robert Massey-Ellis and kick-off is at 3.00pm.

Match coverage will be available via @bostonunited on Twitter.
