Boston United Centre of Excellence successfully completed the fourth annual Pilgrim Cup tournament at RAF College Cranwell over the weekend.

The tournament was kindly sponsored by Tony Vamplew’s Auto Centre of Redstone Industrial Estate, Boston.

Saturday and Sunday saw 117 teams taking part across eight age groups in one of the region’s biggest footballing showpieces with sides as far away as Bristol coming across for the event.

Local rivalry was also prevalent over the weekend with Lincoln City, Grimsby Town, Mansfield Town and Corby Town all in the mix with hosts Boston United.

The event has gone from strength-to-strength, gaining a reputation for offering a very high level of football which was once again shown over the weekend.

Lincoln City took a clean sweep of successes on day two wining the under-9s, 11s, 13s and 15s age groups. Northants Junior Foxes, York City and Mansfield Town were the other tournament victors over the weekend.

The Pilgrims also enjoyed success winning the under-14s age group, while the under-9s, 14s 'B' side and under-15s finished runners-up in their respective age group competitions.

Next year’s tournament in 2014, which will be the fifth and indeed within the Centre of Excellence's 10th anniversary year since inception, will be staged on Saturday May 17 and Sunday May 18.
