The new Vanarama National League North season gets under way on Saturday with Boston United playing host to Guiseley at The Jakemans Stadium.

The relegated Lions, who spent three seasons in the National League, are the first visitors of the new season as United's ninth successive campaign at Step 2 clicks into gear.

The Pilgrims have lost their last three opening day fixtures — after a run of eight straight first day wins dating back to 2007.

United boss Craig Elliott is set to have a fully-fit squad to choose from, with the exception of long-term absentee Jay Rollins who is still battling back to fitness after a groin and adductor problem.

Andre Johnson limped out of the Pilgrims' final friendly against FC Halifax Town but is set to be fit for Saturday's clash.

Guiseley are set to include former United favourites Kaine Felix, Scott Garner and Reece Thompson in their ranks for Saturday's opening fixture.

The Lions have won only once at The Jakemans Stadium in 13 visits and were thrashed 5-1 in the last encounter to take place in January 2015.

Saturday's match referee is James Bell, who took charge of four matches involving the Pilgrims in 2017-2018.

Matchday updates for those not in attendance will be published on Twitter via @bostonunited — starting with team news at 2.00pm.
