Boston United and Stockport County go head-to-head at The Jakemans Stadium on Saturday in a crucial match for two sides chasing the play-offs.

United are seventh, three points adrift of the final play-off place, while Stockport are two points further behind in ninth, albeit with a game in hand on the Pilgrims.

Dennis Greene’s side will be hoping to build upon their recent glut of goals on home soil, having scored five times in three successive home matches for the first time since 1966.

Striker Dayle Southwell will have the 20-goal mark in his sights having reached 18 for the season with a well-taken brace in last weekend’s 5-1 win over Guiseley.

The Pilgrims will be without the services of Notts County loanee Greg Tempest, who will be sidelined indefinitely due to a troublesome knee.

Defender Rene Steer completes his three-match suspension on Saturday.

Opponents County have won three times (at Tamworth, Leamington and Colwyn Bay) so far this season, as well as drawing four times and losing six away encounters to date.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended 0-0.

Saturday’s match referee is Tom Nield and kick-off is at 3.00pm.

Match coverage will be available via @bostonunited on Twitter.
