Boston United will take part in an extended five-team Lincolnshire Senior Cup in 2013-2014.

The Pilgrims, along with Blue Square Bet North rivals Gainsborough Trinity, have been moved back to the Senior Cup — from the Senior Shield — and will meet at the semi-final stage next season.

Scunthorpe United meet Grimsby Town at Glanford Park in one first round tie — with the winners travelling to Lincoln City in the semi-finals.

The Pilgrims entertain Trinity in the other semi-final at The Jakemans Stadium.

Fixtures will be played during the 2013-2014 pre-season build-up.

Meanwhile, Boston and Gainsborough are set to meet in this season’s Lincolnshire Senior Shield final — although no date has yet been set for the fixture.

Trinity have league matches to play in each of the remaining six midweek slots this season — and could be taking part in the play-offs during the week commencing April 29.

As soon as a date is confirmed, it will be revealed on bufc.co.uk.

United’s last foray into the Lincolnshire Senior Cup ended with a 3-0 defeat to Scunthorpe in July 2007.

The Pilgrims lifted the Senior Cup in 2005-2006 following a 2-1 win over Scunthorpe.
