United aiming to end Bower Fold hoodoo

United aiming to end Bower Fold hoodoo

Craig Singleton2 Dec 2011 - 12:31

Boston United face one of their toughest assignments of the season when they visit second-placed Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday afternoon.

The Pilgrims will come up against the full-time Celtic outfit at Bower Fold — a venue where they have lost all four previous encounters.

Stalybridge have collected 25 points from a possible 27 on home soil this season — dropping points in a 2-2 draw against Gloucester City.

United have called reserve team striker Tony Edwards into their squad for the first time. The 24-year-old has netted 15 times in 12 appearances so far this season, including three hat-tricks, following his summer switch from Horncastle Town.

Edwards takes the place of Jordan Burrow, who has returned to Chesterfield at the end of his two-month loan spell.

Evergreen joint manager Jason Lee is expected to lead the United line once again.

Elsewhere, Lee Canoville, Liam Parker and Mickey Stones are still sidelined through injury.

Celtic’s assistant manager is former Pilgrim Tim Ryan, while attackers Phil Marsh and Connor Jennings have netted 32 goals between them so far this season.

Kick-off at Bower Fold is 3.00pm and full coverage will be provided on United Live.

League sponsors Blue Square Bet have Stalybridge as odds-on 4/7 favourites to record a fifth successive home win over the Pilgrims. Fancy United to cause an upset? The Pilgrims are 7/2, while the draw is on offer at 16/5.
