Play-off chasing Boston United will attempt to strengthen their grip on a top five place when they visit resurgent Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.

The Pilgrims, with six wins and one draw to their credit in their last seven outings, head to Bower Fold to take on a Celtic outfit unbeaten in four (with three victories) since Liam Watson assumed managerial control in March.

Boston moved four points clear of sixth-placed Tamworth with victory over the Lambs on Easter Monday and will be eager to maintain the gap heading into the final fortnight of the season.

United will check on the fitness of striker Mark Jones (hamstring) who limped out of Monday’s win over Tamworth, while fellow attacker Jake Sheridan is still sidelined by his own hamstring injury.

Jamie McGhee is expected to return to the squad after an ankle injury.

The spoils were shared in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign, with Liam Dickinson (now a Guiseley player) equalising Dayle Southwell’s early penalty.

Ex-Pilgrims Stefan Galinski and Lewis King are both on Celtic’s books, but Galinski will not feature due to a clause in the transfer agreement which took him to Bower Fold in January, while King has recently returned from injury to take a place on the bench behind Derby County loanee Ross Etheridge.

Last season’s corresponding fixture finished 3-3.

Kick-off at Bower Fold is 3.00pm.
