The 61-year-old, who made 42 appearances for his country, has also served Liverpool as caretaker manager and assistant manager, having made 340 domestic appearances for the Anfield club.

Thompson will appear in The Pilgrim Lounge alongside comedian Mike Farrell on Thursday November 12.
