The Pilgrim Lounge played host to a successful sportsman’s dinner on Thursday evening.

Premier League referee Howard Webb and comedian Zak Stevens entertained the 120-strong audience — who were also treated to the first event catered for by new food partners Archie Hardwick.

Webb, pictured with United commercial manager and event organiser Craig Singleton, recalled tales of his illustrious and ongoing officiating career which has included the four major finals — the FA Cup and League Cup domestically, the Champions League and the World Cup.

Match programmes signed by Webb from the aforementioned quartet of finals went under the hammer of auctioneer Pete Sharman — and raised £400.

A signed and framed Robin van Persie Manchester United shirt was auctioned for £620.

Boston United would like to thank everybody who attended and supported the event.

The identity of the club’s next guest speaker, scheduled to appear in late November 2013, will be announced in due course.
