United maintain warm-up intensity

United maintain warm-up intensity

Lewis Thorogood27 Jul 2012 - 09:00

Manager Jason Lee says there will be no let-up in the intensity of Boston United’s pre-season build-up — despite a fixture setback.

Saturday’s scheduled home warm-up match against Mansfield Town has now been put back to Friday August 3 (kick-off 7.45pm) at the request of the Stags.

In its place is now a trip to face Spalding United of the United Counties League Premier Division tomorrow (Saturday), kick-off 3.00pm.

Although the level of opposition has changed, Lee still sees value in the game.

He said: “We didn’t want to be left without a match and this should again be another good workout for us. Spalding look like they are putting together a good side and we will use it as an opportunity to put out a strong team and hopefully keep up the good work we have shown so far.

“The extra match means were are going to have a really busy programme in the run-up to the new season, especially over the next week. But, that’s okay in my book because it gives us extra chances to have a look at everyone in the squad.”

For the match at the Sir Halley Stewart Stadium, the Pilgrims will come up against a couple of familiar faces in the guise of ex-United men Lee Canoville and Francis Green.

Supporters not present at the Sir Halley Stewart Stadium, can follow the action on Twitter via @bostonunited.
