United set for Chorley showdown

United set for Chorley showdown

Craig Singleton10 Mar 2016 - 21:00

Boston United will check on the fitness of leading goalscorer Dayle Southwell ahead of Saturday’s crucial trip to Chorley.

Southwell scored his 17th goal of the season during the Pilgrims’ 5-2 defeat at AFC Fylde last weekend — but subsequently limped off with a hamstring problem.

His availability for the Chorley clash will be checked ahead of kick-off as United plot a return to winning ways against Matt Jansen’s side.

Mark Jones could come into contention to start should Southwell be deemed unfit, having scored from the bench at Fylde last time out.

Defender Richard Jones (knee) remains United’s only definite injury-related absentee for the trip to Victory Park.

Opponents Chorley have endured a largely inconsistent campaign and sit nine points behind the Pilgrims, albeit with a game in hand.

They were beaten 2-0 at AFC Telford United last weekend and have taken 25 points from a possible 48 on home soil so far this season, with seven wins, four draws and five defeats to their credit.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended 2-1 to the Pilgrims, before a 0-0 draw on the same ground in the play-off semi-final first leg.
