United set for trip to old rivals Guiseley
Boston United visit Guiseley on Saturday (kick-off 3.00pm) in their penultimate fixture of 2011.
The two sides fought out a titanic battle in the Blue Square Bet North play-offs last season — with Guiseley ultimately progressing to the final after a penalty shootout victory following a 3-3 aggregate draw.
Guiseley have mounted another sustained bid for promotion and currently lie third in the league standings, with 38 points to their credit from 19 matches to date.
The Pilgrims will be without skipper Gareth Jelleyman (hamstring) for Saturday’s clash in West Yorkshire, while Liam Parker (ankle) and Mickey Stones (knee) are still sidelined too.
Top goalscorer Marc Newsham will be hoping to earn a recall after his outing from the bench on Tuesday night against Corby Town.
Midfielder Danny Sleath has scored four goals in his last four league appearances against Guiseley and will be eager to extend his impressive record on Saturday.
Boston and Guiseley fought out a goalless draw at Nethermoor Park last November, while Warren Peyton’s stunning long-range free-kick handed the Lions a 1-0 win in the play-off semi-final first leg in May.
United’s last win at Guiseley arrived in August 2009 courtesy of a 3-1 success.
