The Centre of Excellence and youth team graduate (19) has spent the past four months playing for neighbours Boston Town in the United Counties League — but United have always retained his Blue Square Bet North registration.
Manager Graham Drury has made his move following the departure of long-serving left-back Gareth Jelleyman — and with question marks surrounding Paul Mayo’s long-term involvement in a United shirt.
Drury told bufc.co.uk: “I am looking forward to working with Jason. He is somebody I have been impressed with and he is returning to the club where he started his development.
“I would like to thank Ian Dunn and Matt Hocking at Boston Town for simplifying the process of allowing Jason to return.”
Field will be in contention to face Harrogate Town on Tuesday evening.
