United swoop for Dutch wideman

The 23-year-old, who travelled with the Pilgrims to Worcester City on Saturday, has joined United from SVV Scheveningen.

Van Engel has received international clearance to complete his move to The Jakemans Stadium and should figure in Tuesday’s Lincolnshire Senior Shield final against Grantham Town.

Reflecting on the capture of Van Engel, joint manager Jason Lee told bufc.co.uk: “John is a Dutch boy who has been training with us for a number of weeks.

“We are always looking for players and if they can come in and strengthen our squad, that is what it is all about.

“We look forward to seeing what John can do for us.”
