Boston United boss Jason Lee was full of praise for his ‘battered and bruised’ players after Tuesday’s excellent 1-0 win at Stalybridge Celtic.

The Pilgrims’ first-ever victory at Bower Fold was achieved thanks to Spencer Weir-Daley’s solitary goal, Dan Haystead’s penalty save and an all-round performance packed full of guts and determination.

Lee praised the United players for their unstinting efforts as the Pilgrims climbed to within four points of the play-off positions, with a match in hand.

The United manager previewed Saturday’s derby fixture against Gainsborough Trinity at The Jakemans Stadium.
