Swineshead Institute 1-5 Boston United
Boston United Reserves stormed to a second successive victory with a 5-1 win over Swineshead Institute on Tuesday evening.
Mitch Eustace and Nick Bishop also got themselves on the scoresheet for Glen Maddison’s table-toppers — against a Swineshead side who finished with nine men following the late dismissals of Ryan Barker and Paul Clarke.
Institute took an early lead. Having already seen one good chance go begging, striker Jack HOUGHTON made no mistake when he found himself clean through on keeper Andy Hewitt.
The Pilgrims were level inside a minute. Scott Lowman’s deep free-kick was nudged on by Edwards and EUSTACE fired the ball home from an acute angle at the back post.
United took the lead on 16 minutes. Steve Lovett delivered a ball wide to Jason Field, who in turn delivered an excellent cross from the right. Tom Sergeant nodded the ball down and EDWARDS applied the finishing touch.
The Pilgrims extended their advantage inside the first minute of the second half when Lowman and Sergeant combined for EDWARDS to fire home his second of the game.
United added their fourth goal three minutes later when Eustace’s deep corner was crashed home on the half-volley by BISHOP.
Barker and Clarke were both handed second yellow cards for near identical fouls on an otherwise clean through Edwards.
EDWARDS completed his hat-trick in between the dismissals — heading home Lovett’s pinpoint cross to seal United’s excellent victory.
