Skegness United 2-1 Boston United
Boston United Reserves suffered disappointment in the Supplementaty Cup final after losing 2-1 to Skegness United at Ashby Avenue.
First half goals from Ben Davison and ex-Pilgrim Paul Watts handed Skegness the initiative and despite a Tom Sergeant reply after half-time, it was the Lincolnshire League runners-up who prevailed.
The Pilgrims battled strongly during the second half, but were kept at bay by Skegness keeper Ben Pritchard and his backline.
Strikes from DAVISON and WATTS afforded Skegness a comfortable interval lead but the Pilgrims roared back into contention when SERGEANT scored only a matter of minutes after coming on.
The Pilgrims piled on the pressure in the closing stages but were unable to breach the Skegness rearguard further — with Mark Hallam’s side going on to lift the cup and complete a treble over Boston this season.
Boston (4-3-3): Andy Hewitt; Steve Lovett (Mitch Eustace 82), Lewis Sturman, Scott Dawson, Jason Field; James Reed (Bert Snaith 70), Nick Bishop, Richard Jackson; Liam Ogden (Tom Sergeant 56), Tony Edwards, Tom James. Subs (not used): Jake Beauchamp, Nathan Rawdon.
