Duxbury-Mead treble concludes Pre Season Programme

A hat-trick from Player/Assistant Manager Tracey Duxbury-Mead saw Boston United Ladies finish their Pre Season programme with a convincing victory on Sunday afternoon.

The Pilgrims Ladies, travelled to Cambridgeshire Premiership side ICA Sports of Peterborough, hoping to finish their pre season preparations on a high ready for next Sunday's league opener.

The Pilgrims saw three players make their debuts for the club, with 16-year-old Goalkeeper Olivia Clark making her first senior appearance for the club. Also there were debuts for defenders Rachael Howes and Emily Horton.

The Pilgrims started the game brightly playing with a high tempo and retaining lots of possession of the ball.

After 20 minutes the Pilgrims took the lead when Tracey DUXBURY-MEAD produced a fine finish after good work down the right by Ella McGrorey.

5 minutes later the lead was extended when Toni MCHAMILTON scored with an excellent 25-yard shot which gave the home keeper no chance.

Just before the break Tracey DUXBURY–MEAD got her 2nd goal of the match pouncing on a defensive error in the ICA backline with an early shot into the far bottom corner of the net.

On 68 minutes Vicki Bradford appeared to have suffered a serious ankle injury following a collision with an ICA Sports Midfielder. Demi Barai was introduced into the Pilgrims midfield and the ladies started to mount the pressure on their opponents.

Further introductions of Emily Horton, Amelia Siddall and Gemma Bradford gave the team a fresh look for the final 20 minutes.

The Pilgrims were nearly caught out on the counter attack which saw debutant Clark make a fantastic save, tipping the ball around the post to deny which looked like a certain goal.

On 80 minutes Tracey DUXBURY-MEAD completed her hat-trick with beating the goalkeeper at the near post with a ferocious shot.

With 5 minutes to play, Paige WRIGHT completed the scoring with an excellent effort from 25 yards which rounded off a fine display from the Pilgrim's midfielder.

The Pilgrims played full on confidence and can now look forward to next weekend's opening league game as they travel to Cleethorpes Town Ladies.
