Boston United 6 - 1 Arnold Town Ladies

Boston United hit Arnold Town for six

Following last week’s FA win, the ladies were starting their league campaign with their first home game against a team that got relegated from the premier division, which meant on paper it could be a difficult game so the ladies were up for the battle. The game started and the Pilgrims were on the front foot and Arnold Town knew they were going to be in for a game. The scoring started with the two strikers McHamilton and Duxbury Mead combining (like Cole and Yorke) well with Duxbury Mead setting up McHamilton on 4 minutes making it 1 – 0 to the Pilgrims, only for Arnold Town to respond 2 minutes later where they gained a lot of space from midfield and Samara Field hitting a shot from about 20 yards over the keeper making it 1 – 1. The Pilgrims struck back 2 minutes later with a stunning team goal, played by Amy Hunt, to Duxbury Mead who chested it down for McHamilton to score her second of the day 2- 1 to the pilgrims. The goals kept coming with the runs down the wings from Lauren Carter and Ellie Spendelow and the non-stop work ethic from Amy Hunt in the midfiled along with Gabbi Smith it was only a matter of time before more goals came. On 32 minutes the third goal came for the pilgrims, when the magical Demi Barai played a lovely through ball to Ellie Spendelow who smashed the ball into the roof of the net, the forth followed 2 minutes later when Lauren Carter played in Amy Hunt who then smashed the ball into the roof of the net with a stunning strike and the 3 points were coming to Boston, but not before the scoring was finished. The fifth came just after half time when Demi Barai played in Duxbury-Mead who then took on the keeper and placed it smartly into the back of the net, 5-1 and the sixth followed on 63 minutes when a Duxbury-Mead corner found the head of Racheal Howes with a powerful header into the back of the net and the scoring was complete still with 30 minutes to go. The score could have been worse for Arnold Town as the Pilgrims hit the post the crossbar amongst other missed opportunities and they simply had no answers to the impressive team performance of the Pilgrims and with Sam Davis, Claire Foster, Daniella Carter having impressive games and the subs bench full of talent, teams are going to find it hard to play an inform Boston United. Player of the Match – Amy Hunt.
