Striker Ricky Miller struck twice to send Boston United safely into the FA Trophy first round proper draw.

Miller was on target twice in quick succession during the second half after Liam Slade had briefly pegged the Pilgrims back in the third qualifying round tie against Redditch United.

Carl Piergianni and Jake Hall were also on target for Boston as they advanced to secure £4,000 in prize money.

Goalkeeper Sam Vince had been handed a start ahead of kick-off, with Lewis King cup-tied.

The early stages were quiet, although Redditch did press forward at every opportunity despite their underdogs tag and Vince was forced into a smart save when Ashley Sammons let fly from distance.

United got themselves on the front foot and Piergianni headed over the top following an Ian Ross corner, although it would not be too long before the duo combined again.

Miller then wriggled into the clear but after drawing keeper Sam Hornby, lifted his effort too high.

The Pilgrims took the lead on 22 minutes with PIERGIANNI bulleting a firm header past Hornby following Ross' corner.

Miller almost doubled the lead when he met Spencer Weir-Daley's pass but he could only drill across goal and wide.

Redditch had a glorious chance in first half stoppage time but Sammons blazed wide following excellence from Edwin Ahenkorah.

United had chances to kill the contest at the beginning of the second half, with Hornby denying Miller and then Marc Newsham, before Piergianni powerfully headed against the bar from another Ross flag-kick.

Redditch set the cat among the pigeons by equalising on 63 minutes when SLADE guided home Ahenkorah's corner with a firm header.

Boston threw on Stefan Galinski and Charley Sanders as they switched to 3-4-3 and it took seven minutes for the changes to pay dividends.

Sanders flicked on a long ball forward and MILLER did the rest by closing down Hornby and firing into an empty net.

Redditch responded with Scott Garner clearing Akenkorah's drive off the line while Hornby saved well from Sanders at the other end.

Boston added their third goal on 75 minutes when MILLER beat the offside trap, on the end of Hall's throughball, to calmly roll the ball past Hornby at his near post.

The home side capped their victory nine minutes from time when HALL latched on to Newsham's lay-off to drill the ball into the bottom corner from 20 yards.
