Boston United served up a brilliant performance to record their third victory of the campaign on Saturday afternoon - courtesy of goals from Kelsey Mooney and Keziah Martin.

The Pilgrims were excellent for long spells against Warrington Town - and led through Mooney's 36th minute opener.

United sealed the deal with a sensational long-range strike from Martin in the 66th minute to kick-off the Bank Holiday weekend in style.

Ahead of kick-off, with Tom Leak and Martin Woods both ruled out through injury, Tyler Knowles was handed his senior debut at right-back in a rejigged back four.

He turned in a composed performance - and United's team display was equally impressive, playing scintillating football at will during phases of the first half.

Keaton Ward's eighth minute cutback was lofted over the crossbar by Mooney, while United's number 9 was denied by a flying Tony Thompson save after Brad Nicholson had crossed, on his right foot, from the left.

Warrington had chances too - with Connor Woods and Isaac Buckley-Ricketts both firing wide - but United took the lead nine minutes before the break, with Zak Mills and Ward involved heavily to allow MOONEY to run on and slide the ball past the onrushing Thompson.

Ward came close to United's second goal just after the break, sending Martin's nod-down narrowly wide, while Mooney had a goal chalked off for a tight offside call following an excellent move involving Sam McLintock at the outset.

United ultimately put the game beyond their visitors with a sublime long-range strike from MARTIN, who had earlier crashed a similar effort over the North Stand.

Michael Bostwick planted a header narrowly wide from a Ward corner, while the Yellows closed strongly, with Cameron Gregory saving brilliantly to deny sub Matty Grivosti, while danger man Buckley-Ricketts curled another effort just off target from distance.
