Jacob Hazel scored a dramatic last-gasp equaliser as Boston United grabbed a share of the spoils from their trip to Scunthorpe United on Saturday afternoon.

Ex-Pilgrim Danny Elliott had fired Scunthorpe into a 10th minute lead from the penalty spot, amid a bright opening from the hosts, only for Tom Leak to equalise in the 33rd minute.

Elliott re-established the Iron's lead three minutes before the break and despite a strong Boston showing in the second half, it looked like the Pilgrims would suffer a slender defeat - only for Hazel to strike at the death.

Scunthorpe had started at a rapid tempo and deservedly took a 10th minute lead when Keziah Martin tripped danger man Callum Roberts - and ELLIOTT beat former team-mate Aaron Chapman from 12 yards.

Chapman had already been called into action to deny Roberts and Connor Smith - and he later denied Elliott and Jacob Butterfield in quick succession.

Boston gradually grew into the contest and ex-Pilgrim Ross Fitzsimons produced a tremendous save to deny Jimmy Knowles. The resulting corner bobbled around the Scunthorpe box, with the ball hitting the back post before being swept home by LEAK.

ELLIOTT got Scunthorpe back in front three minutes before the break when he tapped home from close-range following Kian Scales' delivery from the right.

The Pilgrims responded immediately, with Hazel striking the crossbar and Fitzsimons flying across goal to deny Deji Sotona on the follow-up.

Boston introduced Keaton Ward at half-time, adding an extra body to their midfield, and they dictated play for swathes of the second half. Ward, himself, should have scored in the 58th minute, but screwed wide from inside the box.

Chapman kept the Pilgrims alive with a save to deny Scales and United were rewarded when Michael Bostwick kept a Martin free-kick alive and HAZEL buried the ball past Fitzsimons from the edge of the area a minute into five of added time.
