Carl Piergianni, Mark Jones and Jay Rollins scored the all-important goals as Boston United picked up an impressive away win on Tuesday evening.

The Pilgrims were 3-1 victors over Brackley Town at St James Park having raced into a two-goal lead inside six minutes courtesy of first goals of the season from Piergianni and Jones.

Luke Graham cut the deficit for Brackley on 27 minutes but the Pilgrims wrapped up three points when Rollins scored his first goal for the club 16 minutes from time.

United were unchanged from Saturday's 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton and flew out of the blocks.

Jason Alexander had been called upon to deny Owen Story in the second minute but United soon seized control.

Kyle Dixon delivered a fourth minute corner from the United left and PIERGIANNI slammed the ball home from close-range.

United's evening got even better two minutes later when Jamie McGhee picked out JONES with a terrific ball into the left channel and the striker did the rest with a composed, angled finish.

Brackley should soon have had a goal back but Story horribly miscued at the back post on the end of Stephan Morley's deep cross from the left.

Town did get themselves on the scoresheet with a well-worked corner routIne, with Jones being blocked off and GRAHAM rising highest to power home Story's flag-kick.

Grant Roberts smashed a subsequent 20-yarder narrowly over Dan Crane's crossbar while Dayle Southwell drove wide of the near post after working himself a yard of space.

United almost added their third goal moments before the break but Crane made a sensational save to divert McGhee's drive on to the post and to safety following Dixon's cutback.

The Pilgrims kept things tight after the break and created the better chances themselves. Jones whistled a near 30-yarder narrowly over Crane's crossbar while Rollins produced a barnstorming run down the right before cutting inside to flash an 18-yard shot narrowly wide of Crane's near post.

United could have grabbed their third, but Southwell fired over from 18 yards following determined play from strike partner Jones.

Boston did seal the points when Alexander's long kick was forced on by Jones and then Southwell and ROLLINS poked home from close-range.
