Boston United suffered one of their heaviest-ever defeats after being thrashed 9-2 at promotion favourites AFC Fylde on Saturday afternoon.

The Pilgrims actually led through Jay Rollins' 10th minute strike but capitulated to trail 6-1 at half-time. Rollins struck again after the break but Fylde added further three goals to wrap up a resounding victory.

Danny Rowe scored four goals, with Brendon Daniels netting twice alongside single strikes from Andy Bond, James Hardy and Josh Langley.

Fylde had already seriously threatened through Bond and Bohan Dixon before United took the lead, with Taylor Miles clipping the ball through for Gregg Smith to head it on and free ROLLINS who did the rest with a brilliant finish into the far corner.

Home keeper Rhys Taylor subsequently kept out headers from Smith and debutant James Goode but that was as good as it got for Dennis Greene's side.

Fylde levelled on 15 minutes when DANIELS fired home the loose ball following Hardy's cutback before taking the lead nine minutes later when BOND finished off a sweeping counter-attack from a poorly-executed United free-kick.

ROWE opened his account for the afternoon when he tapped home Dixon's cross at the back post following Goode's misplaced pass.

HARDY added Fylde's fourth six minutes before the break after a rare Dion-Curtis Henry slip before ROWE smashed home number five. ROWE completed his hat-trick in first half stoppage time with a bullet header following Hardy's perfect cross.

United were unchanged after the break and cut the deficit three minutes into the half when ROLLINS shrugged off the attentions of Langley to finish well from inside the box.

ROWE started and finished the move which led to his fourth goal, linking well with Hardy to strike goal number seven in the 56th minute.

DANIELS added number eight seven minutes later and LANGLEY completed the drubbing with a 78th minute header which sailed through Henry's legs.
