Boston United 2-0 Chorley
Ashley Hemmings and Kabongo Tshimanga scored the all-important goals as Boston United recorded a second successive home win on Saturday afternoon.
Hemmings struck on 37 minutes to hand United a half-time lead and Tshimanga scored two minutes after the break, just as he had done at Tamworth on Tuesday, to seal the points against last season's beaten promotion finalists Chorley.
The result ended United's 18-year wait for consecutive home wins at the beginning of a season.
Alfreton Town loanee Brad McGowan made his United debut and he was ultimately partnered by Tom Batchelor following an injury to Jack Cowgill in the warm-up.
Chorley’s own problems at centre-half developed early on with Scott Leather cautioned for a foul on Tshimanga before being withdrawn seven minutes later.
Tshimanga freed Harry Vince midway through the half, but the United youngster’s drive flew across goal and wide.
Vince was subsequently involved at the other end when he hacked the loose ball to safety after Kieran Charnock’s header had come back off the crossbar.
Chorley keeper Matt Urwin saved well with his legs to thwart Tshimanga but United finally took the lead eight minutes before half-time.
HEMMINGS worked himself a yard of space before bending home a fine effort which nestled beyond Urwin’s grasp.
TSHIMANGA fired another effort across goal before the break but he added United’s second goal two minutes after half-time when he turned home Adam Chapman’s long throw-in.
McGowan was denied a debut goal by a firm Chorley block in the closing stages while Batchelor thwarted visiting sub Marcus Carver and George Willis saved well to deny Jason Walker.
