Kidderminster Harriers 1-2 Boston United

Max Wright and Ben Davies scored the all-important goals as Boston United left Aggborough with maximum spoils on Saturday afternoon.

The Pilgrims accounted for Kidderminster Harriers courtesy of Wright’s sixth minute opener and Davies’ third penalty in four matches six minutes before half-time.

Joe Ironside had levelled for the hosts in between times but the Pilgrims battled their way to an important three-point haul.

United boss Craig Elliott had made two changes to his side ahead of kick-off, with Jonathan Wafula and Jay Rollins coming into the starting XI.

Home keeper Brandon Hall made a solid stop to deny Gavin Allott within two minutes, while Harriers responded with Sam Austin drilling wide from the edge of the penalty area.

United took the lead when Rollins robbed full-back Aaron Phillips and fed the ball through for WRIGHT to slam a near post drive beyond Hall.

Allott soon had an effort kicked off the line by Lee Vaughan following Davies’ cross from the right.

Kidderminster came into the game with Ironside heading narrowly wide from Phillips’ cross and George Willis tipping Fraser Horsfall’s header on to the crossbar.

Harriers levelled in the 32nd minute when Dan Bradley delivered an inch-perfect ball from the right and IRONSIDE fired home from around the penalty spot.

United were given the perfect opportunity to re-assert their lead seven minutes later when Allott was clipped by Josh Heaton and DAVIES crashed home the resulting spot-kick off the underside of the crossbar.

The Pilgrims had two golden chances to kill off the contest in the second half, with Rollins motoring from the halfway line to beat the offside trap and drag an effort across goal and wide, while Hall made a fine save to thwart substitute Spencer Harris who had met Allott’s cutback.

Harriers piled on plenty of pressure but failed to test Willis in the United goal. Their frustrations boiled over in the sixth minute of stoppage time when they appealed in vain for a penalty for handball against Ryan Qualter and substitute Kane Richards was sent off for striking referee James Bell.
