Ricky Miller grabbed a second successive hat-trick at The Jakemans Stadium as Boston United put Solihull Moors to the sword on Saturday afternoon.

Fresh from his treble against Workington on January 7, Miller added United's second, third and fourth goals against play-off chasing Solihull, who had briefly got themselves back into proceedings through Omar Bogle's strike on the stroke of half-time.

Scott Garner had handed the Pilgrims a 38th minute lead before Miller stole the show by taking his 2014 goal tally to nine in four matches.

United, who had made five changes ahead of kick-off, survived the loss of injured goalkeeper Lewis King at half-time to record their ninth home win of the campaign.

Kyle Dixon made his full United debut, while Jamie McGhee emerged as a second half substitute.

Solihull were on the front foot early on and King denied Ryan Beswick, Junior English and Bogle inside the opening 10 minutes. Marc Newsham also produced a goalline clearance to deny Dominic Langdon.

Miller, meanwhile, was denied by Jasbir Singh as the Pilgrims looked for the game's opening goal.

United went close again when Ryan Semple's corner was headed goalwards by Garner and Miller was unable to force the ball home, with Singh gathering low down.

The Pilgrims took the lead seven minutes before the break after Carl Piergianni had been inadvertently denied by his own team-mate Miller, before Semple fizzed a return cross into the area, which was turned home at the near post by GARNER for his sixth of the season.

United stretched their lead two minutes later, with the Pilgrims playing on despite an injury to Stuart Pierpoint, and MILLER cracked home a beauty across Singh and into the far corner.

Miller's angled drive was then tipped over by Singh following indecision from English and Reece Fleet but Solihull were soon back in contention. Aron Wint fired narrowly wide, before BOGLE advanced into a clear position to drill Moors back into the game deep into stoppage time.

United were bright from the off after the break, with Piergianni denied by Singh, while Semple had a header blocked on the line by English and Dixon's follow-up deflected wide.

Semple subsequently delivered a deep corner which was met by a fabulous curling finish from in-form MILLER to send the home crowd wild.

Back at the other end, Dixon made a crucial block to deny Wint a near certain goal for Moors, before the Notts County loanee raided away to meet Miller's lay-off with a neat piece of skill, only to be denied by Singh.

McGhee replaced Liam Agnew, who had taken a knock, and was only inches away from a debut goal. He whizzed his effort wide following a partially cleared corner and then rattled Singh's crossbar from 20 yards.

United capped their victory midway through nine minutes of stoppage time, added for a bad injury to Bogle, with MILLER fouled in the box by English before beating Singh from the penalty spot.

There was still time for substitute Stefan Galinski to see a glancing header blocked on the line following Semple's corner, but United's job was long since done.
