Striker Ricky Miller scored two penalties as Boston United bagged a crucial away victory against Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon.

Miller struck on 37 and 77 minutes to sandwich Omar Bogle's deflected free-kick for the hosts in the 63rd minute.

Bogle had already squandered a chance from the spot before half-time, but United fully merited their win to go five unbeaten in the process.

United had gone into the match needing all three points to boost their play-off hopes and their eventual victory eliminated Moors from the race for the top five.

Zak Mills was handed his United debut, while Junior Konadu returned from a head injury to bolster the Pilgrims' midfield.

Lewis King held early long-range efforts from Jordan Gough and then Bogle, while opposite number Jasbir Singh excelled to keep out a Jamie McGhee free-kick from 22 yards.

Both teams threatened from corners, with Scott Garner and Exodus Geohaghon both heading wide for their respective sides.

United took the lead eight minutes before the break. McGhee slipped MILLER clear, only to be bundled over by Alex Dean, and the United top scorer picked himself up to emphatically send Singh the wrong way from the spot.

Mills made a brilliant block to deny Bogle and the Moors striker was soon presented with a glorious chance to level the scores. Carl Piergianni had got away with a foul on Michael Taylor in the box moments earlier, only to be penalised for a tame tussle with Bogle but the Solihull frontman sent his penalty wide via the outside of the post.

King made a brilliant save to deny Rob Elvins moments before the break, with Mills acrobatically hacking the loose ball clear.

United went close after the break when McGhee's driven cross was fumbled goalwards by Singh, but the Moors keeper recovered in the nick of time to claw the ball back from the brink.

McGhee was inches away from converting Ben Milnes' free-kick but the home side levelled after Jay Dowie had been penalised for handball 20 yards from goal. BOGLE saw his free-kick take a massive deflection off Rene Steer to wrongfoot King.

The Pilgrims got themselves back in front with 13 minutes to play when Singh upended MILLER and the United striker crashed home his second spot-kick of the afternoon, this time off the underside of the bar.
