Boston United demonstrated their never-way-die attitude once again by fighting back for a crucial 3-3 draw at Colwyn Bay on Tuesday.

The Pilgrims trailed 2-0 at half-time courtesy of Anthony Stephens and Marc Williams strikes inside the opening 20 minutes, only for a Tom Smyth own goal and Ricky Miller's 27th goal of the campaign to haul United level.

Boston appeared beaten when Sean Williams scored after 88 minutes, but Zak Mills popped up in stoppage time to salvage a point from an incredible encounter in North Wales.

The result guaranteed United's fifth point from three taxing away games in a seven-day spell and ensured everything is to play for in the Pilgrims' last four matches.

United's evening did not get off to the best start with Scott Garner adjudged to have fouled Marc Williams in only the second minute, with Wrexham loanee STEPHENS blasting home the resulting penalty.

Miller went close with a drive which flashed into the side-netting following Spencer Weir-Daley's assist, but the hosts were soon further ahead.

Cameron Darkwah produced a brilliant run down the left and his driven cross was slammed home at the near post by Marc WILLIAMS.

Boston enjoyed a good spell of pressure thereafter, but were unable to make inroads into the deficit before the break. Weir-Daley sent a snapshot a fraction wide after Ian Ross' corner had bobbled around, while Mills' downward header was gathered by keeper Chris Sanna following Ross' flag-kick.

Sanna preserved his side's two-goal lead on the stroke of half-time with an excellent low save to deny the impressive Ben Milnes from 20 yards.

United got themselves back in the contest three minutes after the break when Weir-Daley teed up Rene Steer to deliver from the left and his thunderous cross was smashed home by the unfortunate SMYTH.

Sanna produced an excellent save to deny Miller, while Liam Agnew's drive clipped the post after a melee from a United corner.

Bay remained a threat on the break and King had to be alert to deny Marc Williams who had surged through a decreasing United backline with plenty of visiting bodies committed forward.

United levelled with 12 minutes to play when Mills delivered a tantalising deep cross from the right which was brilliantly nodded down by Garner and fired into the far corner by MILLER.

Substitute Stefan Galinski then sailed an astonishing 40-yarder a matter of inches wide, while emergency striker Garner had another effort deflected behind for a corner.

United were hit by the classic sucker punch when Bay netted their third goal with two minutes to play. King made a fantastic save to claw Marc Williams' drive to safety but Sean WILLIAMS sailed home an unstoppable lob to seemingly hand United defeat to contemplate on their mammoth journey home.

The Pilgrims were not finished though and MILLS was in the right place at the right time to fire the ball low past Sanna from 20 yards to complete an amazing encounter.
