Kirk set to return for Corby trip
Boston United travel to Corby Town on Saturday in pursuit of their first three-point haul of the New Year.
The Pilgrims have extracted three points from four league fixtures against Eastwood Town, Blyth Spartans, Bishop’s Stortford and Nuneaton Town to date — and will be eager to chalk up their first win of 2012.
United will hope to take advantage of a home side currently shedding players and winless in their last four matches at Steel Park.
Since thrashing Droylsden 5-2 in mid-November, the Steelmen have suffered successive home defeats to Nuneaton Town (2-0), Gainsborough Trinity (3-1), Solihull Moors (3-0) and FC Halifax Town (4-2).
Corby remain imperious on the road and currently lie eighth in the Blue Square Bet North standings.
The reverse fixture earlier in the season ended 1-1 thanks to Tyrone Kirk’s late equaliser — and Kirk is poised to return from a hamstring strain for United’s first-ever visit to Steel Park.
Kirk will be keen to make a telling impact against a side who attempted to lure him away from The Jakemans Stadium since the first meeting of the teams on December 13.
Fellow winger Ryan Semple (knee) is likely to miss out once more.
