Pilgrims chasing Workington weekend win

Pilgrims chasing Workington weekend win

Craig Singleton21 Oct 2011 - 11:07

Blue Square Bet North football makes a welcome return to The Jakemans Stadium on Saturday — following a four-week break.

Boston United entertain Workington and will be aiming for their 10th consecutive league victory over the West Cumbrian outfit.

Four victories in the 1970s have been followed by five straight successes since the Pilgrims returned to non-league football in 2007.

United defeated Workington 2-1 on the opening day of the season, with two goals from the now-departed Kevin Holsgrove sending the Pilgrims home happy.

The Pilgrims will welcome back midfielder Chris Hall following a calf injury, while full-back Jordan Fairclough could return to the squad too.

Jason Lee is expected to lead the line once more after netting in successive matches against Altrincham and Histon.

Workington have collected eight points to date — with four of those arriving away from home against Altrincham (1-1) and Vauxhall Motors (1-0).

Saturday’s match referee is Jason Whiteley and supporters not in attendance can follow all the action on United Live.

League sponsors Blue Square Bet have the Pilgrims as strong 4/9 favourites to record a home win. Workington are priced 5/1, while the draw is on offer at 3/1.
