Weir-Daley set for FA Trophy appearance

Weir-Daley set for FA Trophy appearance

Craig Singleton13 Jan 2012 - 10:45

Striker Spencer Weir-Daley is poised to kick-off his second spell with the Pilgrims in Saturday’s FA Trophy tie against Dartford at Princes Park.

United’s newest recruit, who netted 35 goals in his first spell with the club, is eligible to play in the weekend’s second round encounter in Kent.

Weir-Daley’s arrival will add further options to a striking department which contains the likes of Marc Newsham, Jason Lee, Ben Fairclough and Leon Constantine.

The Pilgrims will be without the services of winger Tyrone Kirk (hamstring) and midfielder Ben Milnes (ankle).

Kirk’s fellow winger Ryan Semple (knee) will undergo a late fitness check after being substituted late on in Tuesday’s home defeat against Bishop’s Stortford.

While the Pilgrims have recorded home wins over Workington (1-0) and Hyde FC (2-1) to reach the second round, Dartford required a replay to defeat Eastbourne Borough (0-0 and 2-1) before comfortably overcoming Brackley Town (3-0) in round one.

Dartford’s home record in general is strong and they have suffered only three home defeats this season — to Truro City and Woking in Blue Square Bet South (where they are currently positioned fourth) and Bromley in the FA Cup.

Supporters not in attendance can follow the action on United Live.

Blue Square Bet are offering match odds on the second round clash. Dartford are the 8/11 favourites, while the Pilgrims are quoted at 14/5. The draw is on offer at 11/4.
