Boston United have brought in defensive re-inforcements for the festive period with the loan signing of Eastleigh centre-half Pierce Bird.

The 21-year-old, who made four United appearances during a loan spell from Notts County last season, has linked up with the Pilgrims until January 16 initially and has permission to feature in the Buildbase FA Trophy.

Two of Bird's four appearances for United in 2019-2020 came in the high-profile Emirates FA Cup fixtures against Rochdale.

Bird will wear squad number 12 for the Pilgrims.

Elsewhere, there have been two departures from the Jakemans Community Stadium.

Defender Lewis Gibbens (21) has linked up with Worksop Town on a season-long loan deal, which does contain a 24-hour recall after the initial 28 days of the loan spell.

Full-back Josh Askew (22), meanwhile, has joined National League North rivals Chester FC after the Seals submitted a seven-day approach for the player ahead of the meeting between the sides last weekend.
