Lister becomes latest United recruit

Lister becomes latest United recruit

Craig Singleton8 Feb 2013 - 17:20

Boston United have snapped up former Alfreton Town and Hinckley United defender Paul Lister on a free transfer.

The 23-year-old, who is also capable of playing in midfield, was a free agent after leaving financially-stricken Hinckley — and has now joined the Pilgrims in time for Saturday’s trip to Guiseley.

Stints with Burton Albion and Grantham Town preceded Lister’s first spell with Hinckley in 2009-2010 — and he linked up with Alfreton midway through the 2010-2011 campaign in which the Reds clinched the Blue Square Bet North title.

Following Alfreton’s promotion to the Blue Square Bet Premier, Lister returned to Hinckley in June 2011.

He played for the Knitters in their 2-1 win at The Jakemans Stadium in August 2012 — but his appearances thereafter have been sporadic due to injury.

Lister had been back in action however prior to his recent departure from the Greene King Stadium.
