Preview - Aldershot Town

Preview - Aldershot Town

Craig Singleton14 Aug - 14:14

Boston United will belatedly kick-off their National League campaign on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Aldershot Town.

After seeing their opening day fixture against Morecambe postponed due to the Shrimps' ongoing suspension from National League activities, United will now travel to the EBB Stadium for their first game.

National League Cup victories over Middlesbrough and Leeds United have ensured the Pilgrims approach the Aldershot encounter full of confidence – albeit with injury issues to contend with.

Michael Kelly (hamstring) and knee injury victims Jacob Scott, Frankie Maguire and Liam Waldock will all be assessed ahead of the trip to Hampshire.

Newest signing Jordy Hiwula is in contention – after making his competitive debut against Leeds in midweek.

The Shots were beaten 3-2 at Altrincham on the opening weekend, before losing 2-1 at home to Brighton & Hove Albion in the National League Cup in midweek.

Last season's corresponding fixture culminated in a last-gasp 2-1 win for the Pilgrims, with James Gale and Jai Rowe scoring late goals to secure a crucial three-point haul.
