It will arguably be their toughest test yet as they seek to make it nine unbeaten following Tuesday's 2-2 draw at home to Woking.
The Pilgrims have chalked up successive wins on the road over play-off chasers Boreham Wood, Scunthorpe United and Forest Green Rovers.
However, only two sides have escaped the Crown Oil Arena without defeat this season – FC Halifax Town (2-1) and Scunthorpe (1-1). Rochdale's other 'home' defeat to Hartlepool United took place at Accrington Stanley.
Rochdale were 3-1 victors at the Jakemans Community Stadium earlier in the campaign – although the Pilgrims did win 3-2 at Spotland last season.
United boss Paul Hurst has reported no new injury concerns – although none of his long-term injury victims are expected to return in Greater Manchester.
