Preview - Southend United

Craig Singleton24 Mar - 17:32

Boston United begin a crucial week on home soil by entertaining Southend United at the Jakemans Community Stadium on Tuesday night (kick-off 7.45pm).

United, who currently sit three points shy of safety, play host to a Shrimpers side who have closed to within just one point of the top seven.

It means there will be plenty at stake – at different ends of the table – as the sides reconvene following the abandoned fixture on January 15. Dense fog scuppered play after six minutes.

Kevin Maher's side are unbeaten in nine National League encounters since a 1-0 defeat at Maidenhead United on February 8.

They have re-signed Boston-born Tom Hopper since the original abandonment – with the Pilgrims' youngest-ever player scoring for the Shrimpers inside the first minute at Eastleigh on Saturday.

Southend were 2-0 victors over the Pilgrims in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.

LIVE COVERAGE
The match will be shown live on National League TV.

Elsewhere, BBC Radio Lincolnshire full-match commentary, courtesy of Rob Makepeace and Dale Storey, is available online.

Updates on X will be available via @bostonunited throughout the evening.

TICKETS
All tickets which were purchased for the original fixture, and not subsequently refunded, remain valid for Tuesday's match.

The match is NOT all-ticket – but ticket purchases are recommended. Click here to buy a ticket. Advanced purchases are £1 cheaper than contactless payments on the turnstiles.

Allocated seating is in operation throughout the Acorn Taxis (West) Stand. Any contactless admissions to the Acorn Taxis (West) Stand are encouraged to sit in Block B if entering the stadium via Turnstiles W1 and W2 and Block H via Turnstiles W3 and W4. Tickets for these blocks will not be on sale online. As per the original fixture in January, the segregation line in the East Stand will be altered to reflect the anticipated travelling support.

A host of family discounts are available – with savings applied at the online checkout.
