Last season's beaten promotion finalists are the weekend opponents for Graham Coughlan's side, who are chasing their second away win and third victory overall this season.
The Shrimpers have won two and drawn two on home soil so far – defeating Tamworth and FC Halifax Town and drawing with York City and Hartlepool United.
The Pilgrims welcomed captain Zak Mills back into the fray ahead of last weekend's 2-1 home defeat to Solihull Moors – and Coughlan hopes to have more players back in action over the coming days.
The likes of Jordan Cropper, Liam Waldock, Frankie Maguire and Kieren Donnelly are all stepping up their rehab after recent injury problems.
Last season's corresponding fixture ended 2-0 to the Shrimpers, although the Pilgrims did avenge that defeat with a 3-0 home win later in the season, after the original fixture had been abandoned due to fog.
