Preview - Southend United

Craig Singleton

Boston United make a welcome return to the Jakemans Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the visit of Southend United.

The Shrimpers make the trip to Pilgrim Way (kick-off 3.00pm) in National League action.

Kieron Dyer’s side are unbeaten away from home so far this season – winning three and drawing three of their opening six matches on the road. Their two defeats have both arrived at home – Kidderminster Harriers (3-1) and Barrow (4-2).

United manager Paul Hurst could opt to shuffle his pack following last weekend’s 6-0 defeat at Yeovil Town – and his cause has been aided by the return of four players.

Nicholas Pozo, Kai Mauro and Ollie Bostock are all back from international duty, while defender Jake Rooney has completed his two-match suspension.

Last season’s corresponding fixture ended 3-3, with Southend fighting back from a late 3-1 deficit to grab a share of the spoils.
