The Pilgrims have picked up four points from their opening three league fixtures – including a point at Buxton on the opening day.

Southport, meanwhile, have suffered three consecutive defeats at the beginning of the campaign, including a 4-0 home reversal to newly-promoted Warrington Town.

The Sandgrounders parted company with manager Liam Watson following Tuesday's 5-1 defeat at Spennymoor Town – although he will remain with the club in a boardroom role.

United will be without left-sided duo Ethan Sephton and Ryan Hand – but hope to welcome striker Kelsey Mooney back from illness.

Last season's corresponding fixture ended 1-1.
