Ukraine donations - nearly £2k raised!

Ukraine donations - nearly £2k raised!

Ceri Jackson22 Mar 2022 - 15:04

Boston United showed support and solidarity with Ukraine by accepting essential supplies donations for refugees, as well as raising nearly £2k

Everyone at Boston United Football Club are incredibly saddened regarding the ongoing crisis in Ukraine - millions of people have now lost their homes or families separated as they flee into neighbouring countries including Romania, Hungary, Republic of Moldova and predominantly, Poland.

Since the crisis began, we have seen local communities rally together to help, either by donating essential supplies, monetary donations or opening up their homes to Ukrainian refugees.

Boston United wanted to join our diverse local community to show support and solidarity with Ukraine, and acted as an essential supplies donation drop off point - working with Patsie Marson, Natalia Bartkowiak and their Community Support Team to ensure donations the club received reached Ukrainian refugees on the Poland-Ukraine border.

Ceri Jackson, marketing manager at the football club, said, “The response was absolutely fantastic – it was incredibly humbling and rather emotional to see so many people come together to help refugees from Ukraine. This is a heart breaking situation, something that has never happened in some of our lifetimes, and you just cannot imagine what these people are going through.

“We just knew we needed to help. We opened the club up as a donation drop off point, and Natalia and I were in contact regularly to co-ordinate dropping off essential supplies we received. It took several car journeys along with a few van loads to deliver all of the donations we received at the club – which shows the incredible generosity from our local community. We would like to thank everyone who contributed.”

The club and their fans also supported the Ukraine appeal by organising collections at two of their more recent home fixtures as well as donating the proceeds from their 50:50 incentive – a total of nearly £2,000 was raised, all of which will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
