This squad has a dual purpose - offering a pathway from the club's youth academy to the first team for the future, and also to add depth to the current first team playing squad for the present.
The team are coached by current first team coach Joe Simpson, and have the opportunity to train with the first team and take part in a bespoke games programme supplemented by players from the U19s and first team.
Players also have the option of combining training and playing with studying for a degree through Loughborough College or a personal trainer course with the club's existing education partner SCL Education Group - and all based at the Jakemans Community Stadium.
Of the development, Boston United first team manager Ian Culverhouse said: "Young players can be the lifeblood of a football club, so investing in them like we are is very important. The professional and semi-professional game loses too many talented players between the ages of 18 to 22 years, so we want to retain those who show promise and continue to help them develop."
United head of football development Ray Power said: "This is something we have been speaking about since I came in and it has been great for our Academy and youth teams to implement this Under-23s team. The step from teenager to first team player is a huge one - insurmountable in most cases. You don't see many 19-year-olds playing regularly in the National League North, so this gives our boys time, stops us losing good players who are just not ready and offers a clear visual pathway through the club. We've had a successful year with this setup, and we are now looking to recruit for the new season."
If you are aged 18 to 22 years old, born no earlier than September 1, 2002 and live within a commutable distance to Boston, you can express an interest in joining the squad. Trials are expected to take place during May 2024. Please note that not all players who express an interest will be invited for trial.
