Boston United travel to Hednesford Town on Saturday afternoon in their quest to reach the first round proper of the Emirates FA Cup.

Not since 1997 have the Pilgrims successfully navigated the qualifying stages of the competition — with Saturday's trip to Keys Park being their 17th attempt to reach the first round, as a non-league club, since a 1-0 win over now-defunct Knypersley Victoria.

Craig Elliott's side stand on the brink following earlier away victories over Stamford AFC and Sutton Coldfield Town, while the Pitmen have played one game more and have successfully overcome Lutterworth Town, Barwell and Blyth Spartans.

Goalkeeper George Willis is back in contention after being recalled from his loan spell at Gainsborough Trinity earlier in the week.

Striker Jake Wright continues his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury and will play no part at the weekend.

Hednesford briefly climbed to the summit of the Southern League Central Division last weekend but dropped back to third in midweek following a 4-0 defeat at Bromsgrove Sporting.

United's last visit to Keys Park unfolded in 2015 when they suffered a 3-2 defeat.

Saturday's match referee is Dale Wootton.

Should a replay be required, it will be staged at The Jakemans Stadium on Tuesday (kick-off 7.45pm).
